Help us Continue Sperryville’s Nature Trails!
Support the network of walking trails in Sperryville and your donation will be doubled by a generous offer by the Greves Foundation!
We need your support to create more safe, accessible, and enjoyable places to walk and be physically active. The new walking trails in Sperryville are a great way to explore the natural beauty of the area and soak in the stunning mountain views with your friends, family, and neighbors.
The first phase of Sperryville’s River Walk was opened on November 22, 2019, and we encourage you to walk it. It follows the Thornton River, where you can enjoy the beauty of our mighty river and soon learn about Sperryville’s history and natural environment. The Alliance recently opened a 1.2-mile extension along the Thornton River. This new extension, which runs from the Estes bridge to the new Pen Druid location, will require grading and gravel to make it more accessible. Support is needed to remove invasive species, create garden and seating areas, and build a walking bridge across the Thornton River.
If you are able, we ask for your support by making a donation to help us raise $60,000 to construct, maintain and expand Sperryville’s walking trails. The Alliance raised over half this goal during the May 4 Give Local Piedmont campaign. The Greves Foundation is offering a new $15,000 matching grant through September 30, 2021. Give today and double your contribution.
